What’s the one thing a teacher shouldn’t say on Facebook?

“I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll take a look inside.”

YOWSERZ.

Yep.  A male teacher in New York posted that comment under a picture on one of his student’s Facebook page.  He’s one of three NY teachers fired over the last 6 months for inappropriate teacher-student relations on Facebook.  Another teacher, female,  kissed a student and posted the picture on Facebook and the other FOOL told his female student that one of her pictures is “Sexy.  This is sexy”.   Come on dude, “I’m not a gynecologist but I’ll take a look inside”?!?  Go kill yourself!

On another note, in Massachusetts, the town of Norton will begin monitoring their teachers Facebook pages.  A new rule explicitly bans teachers from making any students their “friends” and they are not allowed to make any comments or status updates that are sexual in nature.  What’s your take on this?  Invasion of privacy or protecting the students and teachers?

  1. I guess there’s a need to make new rules based on other’s stupidity. Though it is a clear invasion of privacy, there’s a need to protect kids and teens.
