At 6’5 and almost 200lbs, Usain Bolt does not fit the frame of any typical runner. In starting position it takes more effort to lift his body so he’s at a disadvantage before he even begins running. Last year we were blown away at the Beijing Olympics when he broke the world record and ran the 100 meter 9.69 . We were really more in shock that he he beat the world record and really wasn’t trying (remember his celebration before he crossed the finish line). Just today in Berlin, he SMASHES that and breaks his own world record and runs the 100 meter in 9.58. Usain ran a hair under 30 mile per hour… on two legs.
For all you naysayers who insinuate his speed is not ‘natural’, let’s go back in history so that we can school you. Usain was a child prodigy in Jamaica. PERIOD. At the age of 15 he ran the fastest 200 meters, and that record still stands; at 16 he ran the fastest 200 meter, and that record still stands; at 17 he ran the fastest 200 meter, and that record still stands AND no one has come remotely close to beating it. Bottom line.. Usain is a beast. We will not see another runner like him for a long time.
